It’s Little League baseball season once again, and the Upper Ottawa Valley Little League (UOVLL) is looking for coaches for various age groups this season.
To date, 678 players have registered for the 2026 season, with many still on the waitlist. More coaches are needed to get those kids off the waitlist and onto the field, says UOVLL spokesman Kyle Robinson.
Robinson says previous coaching experience is not necessary, nor does your child have to be playing in the league. “If you love the game and want to see as many kids as possible get out there and play this season, then this opportunity is for you,” he adds.
For those in the Petawawa area, there is a particular need for minor age group coaches for kids aged 9 and 10, says Robinson. Coaches are also required for the major age group, consisting of 11- and 12-year-old players.
Girls are becoming more and more involved in the UOVLL, and there are players on the waitlist. Coaches are especially needed for the 8- to 12-year-old sector.
Robinson reminds us that the minor 9- and 10-year-old age group will be hosting the Provincial Tournament this July at Riverside Park, where seven or eight teams from across the province will converge on Pembroke to compete. More information will be shared later this season.
