The City of Pembroke is inviting applications for its Community Grant Program, offering financial support to not-for-profit groups that provide local recreation services.
Pembroke Deputy Mayor Brian Abdallah says this is the second year the grant has been made available through the City of Pembroke Parks and Recreation Department, with not one but two separate intake dates in April and September. Abdallah explains some of the criteria necessary to qualify:
Eligible organizations can apply for up to $5,000 to support initiatives that address community needs and expand recreational opportunities. There are several ways the grant funds can be used, says Abdallah, ranging from one-time capital projects, organizational support, and programming, to name a few. Officials say the funding cannot be used to cover deficits, debt, endowment funds, or religious or political activities.
The funding comes from the annual city budget, with an overall amount of $20,000 available to be spread across multiple recipients. Abdallah briefly explains how the decision to issue funds works:
The application deadline for the first intake is April 1, 2026, and September 1 for the second. For more information, visit Pembroke.ca and type in “Community Recreation Grant.”
