As spring arrives, police are reminding motorists to watch for an increase in pedestrian traffic across the region.
The Upper Ottawa Valley detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police says drivers must yield to pedestrians at designated crosswalks and crossovers, which are marked by signage, pavement symbols and flashing lights.
Officers stress that at crossovers, vehicles are required to remain stopped until pedestrians have completely cleared the roadway, noting the rule is key to preventing injuries.
