A fundraising event benefiting Ottawa Valley-area food banks and charities is set to take place in Petawawa this September.
Emergency and Protective Services United will be hosting a family fun day in the town that will be free to attend, according to organizer Alysia Beevis.
Beevis says the main attraction will be an obstacle course that various emergency service workers will need to navigate as part of a friendly competition.
Beevis says it’s fun for attendees to see emergency service and first response workers out of uniform and enjoying themselves for a good cause, but the obstacle course isn’t the only attraction attendees can expect.
Like the kick-off fundraising event being held on Thursday, March 26th, the event in September is supporting three local organizations: the Pembroke and Area Special Olympics, St. Joseph’s Food Bank and the Petawawa Pantry Food Bank.
The family fun day is being held at the Petawawa Civic Centre on September 12th, with help from the Petawawa Fire Department. A similar event was held last year in Laurentian Valley.
