The Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is urging residents to stay alert as warmer weather brings more pedestrians onto local roads.
Police say those walking or jogging, particularly in low-light conditions, should wear bright or reflective clothing to remain visible. Pedestrians are encouraged to use sidewalks where available or walk facing traffic on the shoulder.
Drivers are reminded to stay focused, obey speed limits and yield to pedestrians at crossings.
Officials say road safety is a shared responsibility among all users.
