Some Ottawa Valley residents expecting packages from Canada Post today will need to wait until the weather clears up.
The postal service has issued a red delivery service alert for several communities in Ontario as a result of the ongoing ice storm and freezing rain.
Red service alerts mean that delivery is being suspended for the day and delivery agents are being recalled.
The alert affects Pembroke, Petawawa and Renfrew, as well as the cities of North Bay and Sudbury and their surrounding areas.
Updates on Canada Post’s delivery service alerts will be posted on its website and social media pages.
In the meantime, residents in the affected areas who are expecting a delivery are urged to clear the ice from their walkways, stairs and driveways to ensure their homes are safe to access when service resumes.
