Police say a Pembroke resident is facing intimate partner violence-related charges following a reported domestic dispute earlier this week.
The Ontario Provincial Police say officers with the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Detachment were called to a residence in Pembroke shortly after 5 p.m. on March 3.
Police say a 28-year-old Pembroke resident was arrested at the scene following an investigation.
The accused is charged with spousal assault and assault with a weapon under the Criminal Code.
Police say the victim did not suffer serious injuries.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke at a later date.
Police say support services are available for anyone experiencing domestic violence, including the Bernadette McCann House and the Women’s Sexual Assault Centre of Renfrew County, both of which operate 24-hour crisis lines.
