The City of Pembroke and the Township of Laurentian Valley are working together to move forward with planning for a proposed regional sportsplex.
The two municipalities have hired Milestone Schedule and Consulting to assist with the early stages of the project, including reviewing key documents, assessing potential locations for a new facility and more.
While that’s being done, the two municipalities have jointly launched a survey for residents to fill out to share their thoughts on the area’s recreation needs.
Pembroke Mayor Ron Gervais said during a press event regarding the survey on March 6th that the two communities have always had a strong relationship, making the partnership easy.
Steve Bennett, the mayor of Laurentian Valley, echoed similar sentiments, also saying that community feedback will be instrumental in the decision-making process.
Bennett also added that Milestone was hired to provide some additional expertise once talks were underway between the two municipalities.
The survey is available online at the Engage Pembroke website.
Residents will have until March 23rd to fill it out. Gervais said he’s been extremely pleased with the number of responses to the survey so far.
