A Petawawa woman is facing impaired driving and drug charges after provincial police seized suspected fentanyl and cocaine during an investigation last week.
Members of the Upper Ottawa Valley detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police say officers stopped to check an occupied parked vehicle on Len Hopkins Drive in Petawawa at about 4:45 p.m. on Feb. 28.
Police say that after speaking with the driver, officers began an impaired driving investigation. The driver was taken into custody and evaluated by a drug recognition expert at the detachment office.
During the investigation, officers seized suspected fentanyl and cocaine.
As a result, a 37-year-old woman from Petawawa has been charged with operation while impaired by drugs, possession of a Schedule 1 substance — cocaine, and possession of a Schedule 1 opioid — fentanyl.
Police say her driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The woman was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on April 7.
