A Madawaska Valley township man is facing several charges after passing through a RIDE program last week. Upper Ottawa Valley OPP say the driver was stopped last Wednesday night (Feb 18) and given a field sobriety test. Police say cannabis was seized and the driver was taken to the detachment and given further testing by a drug recognition expert. A 21-year-old man from Madawaska Valley is charged with Operation while impaired by drugs, Having care or control of a vehicle with cannabis readily available, Failure to surrender a licence and Failure to display two licence plates. The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was towed and impounded for a week. The OPP are reminding the public that RIDE programs can occur throughout the year, and at any time of day or night.
