The 6th annual Ice Fishing Derby is set for Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lemke Lake in Laurentian Valley. Open to all ages, the event invites families and anglers of all skill levels to enjoy a day of winter fun and friendly competition on the ice.
Organizers say participation is free, including a hot dog lunch and hot beverages for registered participants. Each individual must pre-register to help plan food. The event is weather dependent.
Lemke Lake is located at the corner of Doran Road and Barron Canyon Road (62 Barron Canyon Road).
Schedule of the Day:
- 10:00 – 11:00: Check in & Fishing Spot Set Up
- 11:15: Introduction to the Derby and Ice Fishing Procedures
- 11:30: Derby starts
- 12:30 – 1:30: Free BBQ hot dog lunch (including snacks, water, and juice)
- 2:00: Derby ends
- 2:00 – 2:30: Presentation of prizes to winners
Requirements to Participate:
- must pre-register
- must have fishing equipment & own seating (event organizers can drill fishing holes if needed)
- must have fishing licence if you are 18 years old and over or under 65 years old (may purchase one day fishing licence)
- if you are under 18 years old or 65 and older you must have a government-issued identification with you that includes your name and date of birth, at all times while fishing (identification acts as your licence to fish if you belong to one of these age ranges).
