Ontario’s Ministry of Transportation has activated temporary traffic signals at the intersection of Drive In Road and Highway 148 in Laurentian Valley.
The lights became operational on Jan. 22 following a request from Laurentian Valley Township, which sought interim traffic control measures ahead of planned reconstruction work on the highway. The ministry covered the cost of installing the signals, which are intended to improve traffic flow and enhance safety at the busy intersection.
Township officials say the signals are not permanently fixed because they are designed to remain in place only during the construction phase of Highway 148.
Reconstruction of the roadway, also known as Pembroke Street East, is expected to take place over several years, stretching from Agnes Campbell Road to the Quebec turnoff.
