The Heroes Run for Healthcare will return to downtown Pembroke on Sunday, May 3, 2026, bringing runners, walkers and families together in support of local health care.
The event, presented by Canadian Nuclear Laboratories, includes a two-kilometre superhero-themed run for children aged 12 and under and a five-kilometre timed run through the city’s downtown core. Organizers say participants of all abilities are welcome, with options for individuals, families and teams.
The children’s run is sponsored by Bradley Law and features a themed course with costumed characters and activity stations. The two-kilometre event is designed to be interactive and family-friendly, with young participants collecting treats along the route and receiving a superhero cape at the finish line.
Registration is now open. Entry for the two-kilometre children’s run is $10 per child, with guardians allowed to accompany participants at no cost. Registration for the five-kilometre timed run is $35 per person. A group rate of $150 is available for schools, youth organizations and sports teams taking part in the five-kilometre event.
Participants are encouraged to fundraise, with prizes available for top fundraisers. Costumes are welcome, and organizers say teamwork and community involvement are central to the event.
Proceeds support the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation. Donations to the foundation are accepted year-round.
