A 42-year-old man is facing multiple charges following an impaired driving investigation in Pembroke that led to the seizure of suspected fentanyl, cocaine and more than $20,000 in cash.
Ontario Provincial Police say officers with the Upper Ottawa Valley detachment responded Thursday afternoon to a report of a possible impaired driver on International Drive. Police located the vehicle in a nearby parking lot and launched an impaired driving investigation.
The driver was taken into custody and later evaluated by a drug recognition expert at the OPP detachment. Police say suspected fentanyl and cocaine were seized, along with a large quantity of cash.
The man, who was identified as a resident of Providence Bay, Ont., has been charged with impaired operation by drugs, several counts of possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime and possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling.
Police say the man’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. He was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.
