The Whitewater Region Fire Department is hosting a special event to celebrate new equipment being put into service.
The department is organizing a “push-in” ceremony for tanker 9718, a vehicle whose working life officially starts on Saturday, January 17th, 2026.
Push-in ceremonies are a storied tradition for many fire departments, dating back to when firefighting vehicles were horse-drawn and had to be physically pushed into the station after each use.
“It is a meaningful way to honor our history and the evolution of our firefighting capabilities,” said Whitewater Region Fire Chief Jonathan McLaren.
The ceremony is being held from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, January 17th at Station 4 in Beachburg.
