The new year has brought a major win for an Ottawa resident.
CHEO Foundation officials say Aimee Savard is the grand prize winner of the $3.7-million package in the 2025 CHEO Dream of a Lifetime Lottery. Savard was still processing the news when we spoke late last week:
The prize includes a fully furnished Minto Dream Home, a year of bi-weekly cleaning, $100,000 in cash, and a Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4MATIC sport utility vehicle, or a cash alternative.
Additional prizes include grocery and gas gift cards valued at $10,000, as well as moving and legal services.
Proceeds from the lottery support CHEO and its pediatric health-care programs. Savard says she has purchased tickets for the CHEO Lottery every year as a staunch supporter of the hospital, but never imagined it would lead to this. Giving back to the community is the reason she buys tickets, she says, and she intends to continue supporting the cause even after the big win.
Steve Read, president and CEO of the CHEO Foundation, says the lottery is one of the benchmark moments of the year for the foundation, bringing the community together in a way that directly supports the hospital’s work.
Read says that while it is exciting to assemble the prizing and share in the joy of the winners, the lottery remains a critical part of the organization’s overall success. After 35 years of running the lottery, he says the relationship with the community and lottery partners continues to grow, and he sees no sign of that slowing down.
In addition to Savard’s grand prize, the 50/50 draw reached a total of $2,108,285. The winner, Luke Clarke of Gatineau, Que., took home $1,054,142.50. For more information on this year’s lottery, visit the link below.
