The owners of the former Douglas Trading Post, which was destroyed by fire last week, have issued an impassioned plea to those taking mementos from the property to stop immediately.
In a social media message posted yesterday, they reminded souvenir seekers that everyone feels deeply for the loss and that entering the property is both illegal and unsafe.
The owners say cameras have been installed on the site and are urging everyone to stay clear.
A GoFundMe campaign launched by relatives of owners Dan Peters and Amanda Todd is seeking donations to support the couple, who recently purchased the Douglas, Ont., business and its attached historic hotel.
