Algonquin College is expanding its nursing education offerings with the launch of a new Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Honours) degree, now open for applications at its Pembroke and Ottawa campuses.
The program coincides with the college’s 50th year of nursing education and is aimed at addressing ongoing workforce shortages in the health-care system. Jodi Bucholtz, Acting Manager of Community and Student Affairs at Algonquin College, says the four-year honours degree builds on Algonquin’s hands-on approach to training and will prepare graduates for registration as Registered Nurses in Ontario, with careers in hospitals, long-term care, community health and home-care settings.
Bucholtz goes on to say that the long standing collaborative relationship with The University of Ottawa makes it possible for students to earn their degree right here in their own backyard:
The college also plans to open applications in fall 2026 for an accelerated BScN option, allowing students to complete the degree in three years and four months. Further details are available through Algonquin College’s Pembroke campus website.
