The Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police has laid multiple Highway Traffic Act charges against a commercial driver and company following a complaint about an unsafe vehicle.
Police say officers responded shortly before 6 p.m. on Jan. 5 to a report of an oversized load on Paul Martin Drive. A traffic stop revealed a log load measuring 31.39 metres in total length that was deemed unsafe due to excessive length, improper securement and a lack of required rear lighting.
A 29-year-old Earlton, Ont., driver was charged with several offences, while the vehicle’s owner also faces HTA charges related to vehicle length and logging requirements.
