An Independent Third Party (ITP) complaint has been filed with Hockey Canada from an anonymous source.
Hockey Canada and its Members say they are committed to breaking the culture of silence that persists in parts of the sport.
To support a safer environment for speaking up, the organization has introduced a fully independent and confidential reporting system for anyone wishing to raise concerns linked to Hockey Canada–sanctioned activities. The system, known as the Independent Third Party, is overseen by Brian Ward and Erin Durant.
The statement, released late yesterday reads, in part:
“SUSPENSION – Effective immediately, the Respondent (Armstrong) is suspended from all Hockey Canada sanctioned programming and activities, including but not limited to: i. Directly or indirectly acting as a General Manager; ii. Directly or indirectly engaging in any communication (including but not limited to calling, emailing, texting or video calling/messaging), instruction, or supervision of players, team officials, or on-ice officials; and iii. Directly or indirectly coaching, assisting, or acting in any leadership capacity in any on-ice or off-ice team activities, practices, games, or competitions, as well as any player evaluations, tryouts, selection, or roster decisions. This suspension shall remain in effect for the remainder of the current season and the entire 2026-2027 season.”
Former had coach Brandon Richardson who was recently released by the team has denied any involvement in the statement. Click on the link below for the full document.
