Repairs are underway on the major watermain break that occurred late last week.
Tomlinson, the specialized contractor leading the project, began site preparation on Wednesday and started excavating the large-diameter trunk watermain today.
The repair involves removing and replacing the damaged section of pipe, assessing adjacent pipes and replacing them if needed, and using specialized camera equipment to inspect the interior of the affected area. This will help identify any urgent concerns before the line is restored and support future maintenance planning.
Work will continue through the weekend and is expected to be completed by Tuesday, December 2. System testing will follow, with the watermain anticipated to be back online by late Wednesday, December 3.
Miramichi Lodge remains on a temporary water supply, which has been tested and confirmed safe for consumption by the Renfrew County and District Health Unit.
Residents are again asked to reduce water use wherever possible. Conservation helps maintain stable supply for all users and ensures adequate water is available for firefighting, the Pembroke Regional Hospital, seniors’ residences, and other vulnerable facilities.
The water remains safe to drink, though some users may experience reduced pressure or volume during this repair period.
Further updates will be shared on pembroke.ca and on the City’s Facebook and Instagram pages as well as right here at Pembroketoday.ca.
