The annual weekend long Christkindlmarkt wrapped up yesterday with thousands flocking to The Germania Club for an early taste of the Christmas Season.
President of The Germania Club and lead organizer of the event Shannon Boucher says that it’s really the community at large that makes events like this thrive:
Inside, you were greeted by Santa himself and the Christmas spirit was unmistakable, with warm lights, friendly faces and the lively hum of a community gathering. Outside a light dusting of snow gave the grounds the feel of a true Germanic holiday festival with plenty of hot chocolate and warm German treats.
A lot of donated food was collected in lieu of an entry fee as well as cash as customers browsed an impressive selection of mostly hand made arts and crafts perfect for the holiday season.
While Boucher says that the numbers from last year appear to be down slightly, she notes that its been a very successful event for the vendors:
Shannon notes that there is no doubt that the event will return next year on the same November weekend in 2026 for yet another annual Christkindlmarkt experience.
