Pembroke Regional Hospital marked a major milestone in local cancer care Oct. 29 with the official opening of its expanded chemotherapy and medical daycare unit.
The new space, described as modern and welcoming, completes Phase Two of the hospital’s Cancer Care Project and strengthens its long-standing partnership with The Ottawa Hospital’s Regional Cancer Centre.
Since 2011, the collaboration has allowed patients to receive chemotherapy and medical daycare services closer to home. In the past year, PRH recorded more than 2,400 visits for treatment and procedures.
President and CEO Sabine Mersmann said the new space reflects the hospital’s goal to provide comfort, dignity and connection for patients and their families.
