The Upper Ottawa Valley Chamber of Commerce held their annual Business Excellence Awards Gala on Saturday night with the highlight of the evening being the accepting of a Lifetime Achievement Award by none other than John Yakabuski.
104.9 myFM’s own Andrew Dick had the pleasure of presenting Yakabuski with the Life Time Achievement Award.
Yakabuski, who served more than 20 years as MPP for Renfrew–Nipissing–Pembroke, was honoured for his dedicated public service and his support of the local business community.
The yearly event brought together business and community leaders for an evening of celebration, networking, and recognition and this year was one that Yakabuski will never forget:
Guests were treated to a silent auction where all of the proceeds went to support the individual artists and the Chamber itself. The event was held at the Normandy Officers’ Mess, Garrison Petawawa which featured a veritable who’s who of attendees who gathered as they do every year to celebrate the many achievements of Ottawa Valley businesses and individuals.
Yakabuski was grateful for the award but made sure to point out that this is not something that he feels completely comfortable with for a number of reasons:
Yakabuski thanked everyone who attended the Gala and vowed that he will continue to remain involved in the Ottawa Valley Community in as many respects as possible for many years to come.
