The community is invited to the inauguration of a commemorative crosswalk honouring veterans, marking the kickoff to National Legion Week in Pembroke.
With support from 104.9 myFM, the Legion surpassed its goal, raising $16,773.50. Additional funds will support the Legion’s daily operations.
Special invitation goes out to all of the “104 Hearts” donors and everyone who supported the push for the big day coming up this Sunday when the crosswalk will be officially unveiled.
The City of Pembroke and Royal Canadian Legion Branch 72 will host the ceremony Sunday, Sept. 21 at 1 p.m. at War Memorial Park, located at the corner of Pembroke Street East and Mackay Street.
Following the inauguration, the public is invited to the Legion Hall at 202 Pembroke Street East for the official opening of Legion Week, which runs Sept. 21–27. Activities throughout the week include euchre, cornhole, square dancing, live music, and meals. The full schedule is posted on the Legion’s Facebook page.
