UPDATE: Around 8:30 a.m. power came back on in the Town of Renfrew. Outlying areas were still dealing with outages.
Thousands in the region are waking up in the dark.
An overnight storm has knocked out power to a large number of customers across the Ottawa Valley and beyond.
Renfrew Mayor Tom Sidney says power should be restored around 8:30 a.m. and that Renfrew Hydro is in constant contact with Hydro One.
Additionally, flooding has caused a portion of Highway 17 in Mattawa.
The Hydro One outage map should have the latest outage information.
