If there was ever a time to think hard about buying Canadian now is that time. In light of recent threats from US President Trump to impose tariffs on many Canadian goods, folks are looking for “Buy Canadian ” signs more than ever before, including right here at home in Pembroke.
FN Good Food has been around for a little less than a year now, and owner Catherine Donovan is doing her part to offer just what her store name suggests as well as a terrific buy local option.
Donovan explains that FN Good Food came about as a response to her own need to “spice up” certain foods because of various dietary restrictions and it snowballed from there. Turning her business into a restaurant wasn’t the initial plan but she saw a local need and hasn’t looked back since.
A series of “Eureka” moments have come to Catherine during her journey, one of which is that while goods manufactured outside Canada often seemed to be less expensive but when carefully examined really aren’t in the long run:
Donovan intends to continue to stay the course when it comes to buying Canadian and hopes that those businesses and individuals who are equally concerned continue to do the same.
