A 37-year-old individual is facing Criminal Code charges after an incident involving a BB gun at the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation (AOPFN) on January 30. The Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the call around 8:50 p.m. following a report of a BB gun being discharged toward another person. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
During their investigation, police seized an air rifle. The individual has been charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke at a later date. To protect the identity of the victim, the name of the accused is not being released. The OPP continues to investigate the incident.
