Peavey Mart, a Canadian retailer known for agricultural supplies and home improvement products, is closing all its stores nationwide, including our very own location here in Pembroke and its flagship location in Red Deer, Alberta.
Liquidation sales started over the weekend. Founded in Winnipeg in 1967, Peavey Mart has long served rural communities. It expanded significantly through the acquisition of TSC Stores in 2016 and 107 Ace Hardware locations in 2020.
These moves, meant to help Peavey compete with larger rivals like Home Depot, proved costly. The closures come as a shock, marking the end of a longstanding retailer with deep roots in Canadian retail history.
