In April 2023, the Town of Petawawa revised its sign by-law originally established in 2012.
Karen Cronier, Director of Planning and Development for the Town of Petawawa shares some insight about the by-law.
Businesses are allowed to have sign permits up to four months out of a year, Cronier adds that if a business wishes to have the permit back-to-back then they can do so. Cronier tells myFM that this law has been slowly announced to the public to allow businesses to properly deal with getting permits or removing signs.
During the process, informal notices were initially issued to non-compliant businesses, as mentioned by Cronier. Subsequently, formal notices were sent out to provide a final warning before any fines were imposed.
Cronier emphasized the town’s commitment to supporting businesses to the greatest extent possible while still enforcing the sign by-law.
