UPDATE:
A five-minute-long stretch of Highway 17 closed down on the morning of Thursday, September 28th, after a crash reportedly involving a school bus.
Eyewitness accounts from the community report that a tow truck collided with the side of a school bus close to Waterview Road in Cobden just before 8:00am.
The Renfrew County Joint Transportation Consortium confirms a bus servicing St. Michael’s Catholic School and Opeongo High School was involved in an accident at that time.
All parents and guardians of the impacted bus were notified, and the Consortium adds that injuries from the accident were reported as minor.

A collision near Cobden has caused an obstruction along a section of Highway 17 this morning.
According to listener tips, the crash near Waterview Road happened some time before 8:00am and reportedly involved a school bus.
A notice on the Ontario 511 website suggests that all lanes on Highway 17 between Poff Road East of Pembroke and the intersection of Turcotte Road and McFarlane Road West of Cobden were closed to traffic for a couple of hours after the incident before reopening later in the morning.
There is no official word from the OPP regarding the incident or any injuries as of the time of publication.
