The local library is launching a heartwarming initiative to help community members stay warm this winter. Anusha Arul, the Programming and Outreach Coordinator for the Pembroke Public Library, shared details of their upcoming project; Knitting Circle for Cold Hands, Cold Feet.
As winter approaches, not everyone can afford warm gloves, mittens, scarves, or socks. The library’s knitting circle plans to knit these essential items for those in need. Community members are encouraged to join by knitting at home and donating their creations to the library.
Participation in the knitting circle meetings is optional. The next meeting is on October 14th from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM in the library’s reading room. Donations can be dropped off at the library’s children’s and teens’ department.
The library also collects blankets and warm items for distribution to local organizations like the Grind and Bernadette McCann House. The library’s commitment to community well-being is evident in these initiatives.
