The County of Renfrew is looking at initiatives to support tourism, businesses and residents in 2023. Melissa Marquardt, the Manager of Economic Development, Tourism and Entrepreneurship, provided an update to the Property and Development Committee on January 9th.
Marquardt highlighted a few economic development projects the County of Renfrew is working on in 2023 including the launch of a new Invest Renfrew County website at the end of the month, undertaking a newcomer and workforce attraction initiative, developing a new economic development strategic plan, hosting an economic development summit in the spring, reviewing the Taste of the Valley series and putting Renfrew County on the map as a meeting and events destination.
Marquardt says a new tourism website will also be launched at the end of the month, the Ottawa Valley Tourism Awards will be revamped this year, a culinary tourism strategy is being developed for the region and they’ve applied for funding to undertake a resident engagement strategy.
In 2023, Marquardt says Enterprise Renfrew County will deliver the Summer Company and Starter Company Plus programs, develop a francophone services program, revive the mentorship program and deliver small business week programming and events.
