His intended four month stint ended up morphing to close to six years in the position, but as the calendar year comes to a close, Doctor Robert Cushman exits the role of Acting Medical Officer of Health with the Renfrew County and District Health Unit.
Cushman takes us back to the initial job interview with the RCDHU.
He says the onset of COVID-19 was no time to walk away from the role- and while the novel corona virus may not be Cushman’s favourite career moment, he did enjoy keeping SARS out of the nation’s capital during his time as MOH in Ottawa.
While Dr. Cushman’s medical career also included some time as a virologist with Health Canada, in retirement he fancies himself as a mathematics teacher.
Robert Cushman leaves the Acting Medical Officer of Health role with a shoutout to both his peers and the public at large.
Dr. Cushman spoke to us about medical trends, and the state of our Health Care system- and we’ll share those sentiments to conclude the week.
