The Mayor for the City of Pembroke has declared this week (June 1st to June 8th) as Pride Week.
Jamie Hawes, the founder and lead organizer of Pembroke Pride, says there are a number of activities planned over the next couple of days.
Friday at noon you can take part in a Games Day from 12pm to 4pm, with food, drinks, video games and board games.
The Pembroke Pride Walk is set for 6:00pm Friday night and will leave from Algonquin College.
He says they will walk downtown Pembroke, up to city hall with followed by a party back at the amphitheater and waterfront park.
On Saturday, the Pembroke Public Library will host a drag queen story time with the Pride Festival running from 11:00am to 3:00pm on Prince Street with a number of activities planned in the downtown core.
A drag show will close off the Pembroke Pride Festival on Saturday night at Janna & Kerry’s starting at 8pm. All events are free for the community to enjoy, but you’re asked to pre-register for the drag show.
Hawes says Pembroke Pride signs can be purchased online and adds you can follow them on social media for ongoing events and activities.
