The Ottawa Valley Cycling and Active Transportation Alliance is working with the County of Renfrew to make our roads safer for everyone.
Rob Moss, the co-chair for the OVCATA, let myFM know that they work with the county to prioritize which roads need the most urgent work.
Right now, a little over a quarter of roads in the county now have paved, or “hardened” shoulders.
Moss adds that maintaining hardened shoulders helps keep cyclists safe on the road.
On top of that, Moss also told us that they’re working on an important reference for the best local routes to ride.
The OVCATA is working on a comprehensive online atlas, showing off good bike routes at both the county and municipal level on their website.
The OVCATA looks forward to a continued partnership with Renfrew County to improve local infrastructure.
