Additional work is planned this year on the Algonquin Trail that stretches across the Ottawa Valley. Manager of Forestry and GIS for the County of Renfrew, Jason Davis, tells myFM over 100 kilometers of trail is now open from the Smiths Falls area to Petawawa.
Late in 2021 and early in 2022, Davis says work was completed in the Pembroke area on bridges and structures. He expects the trail will be open for all to use, including the section that runs through the City of Pembroke, when the ATV season starts May 1st.
Davis says additional work is planned on the Algonquin Trail in the Chalk River area with a pile of aggregates the County of Renfrew received from the Ministry of Transportation two years ago.
In 2021, the County of Renfrew completed stone dusting work on the Algonquin Trail between the Town of Renfrew and City of Pembroke. Davis says the County of Renfrew wants people to enjoy the Algonquin Trail and follow all the posted rules.
