The Pembroke Business Improvement Area is inviting families to downtown Pembroke on Saturday for its annual Pumpkin Treats event.
The Halloween festivities run Oct. 31 from 10 a.m. to noon, with trick-or-treating at participating businesses marked by black and orange balloons. Treats will be available while supplies last.
Wesley Community Church will also host a Trunk or Treat in its parking lot at 210 Renfrew St. during the same hours.
A costume contest will follow from noon to 1 p.m. at Shamrock Park, with prizes in four categories: kids, youth, adults and pets. Participants can register through the PBIA website at downtownpembroke.ca.
Organizers expect more than 3,000 people to attend and are reminding drivers to use extra caution around downtown during the event.
Parking will be prohibited on Pembroke Street West between Mackay and Christie streets from 10 a.m. to noon. Roped-off areas and additional signage will also be in place to help manage pedestrian traffic.
Downtown businesses will remain open throughout the festivities.
