Current Pembroke mayor Ron Gervais is thanking the people of the city for allowing him to serve them for the last sixteen years.
Earlier this week, Gervais lost his bid for re-election, falling short of new mayor-elect Stephanie LeMay.
“As we say in Kiwanis, service above self,” said Gervais in a public social media post following the election. “I have and will always love the beautiful city of Pembroke and in particular all the citizens and business owners.”
Gervais, who served three terms as Deputy Mayor before being elected as Mayor in 2022, said it’s been a pleasure for him to meet so many people over the years and do everything in his power to help them.
“I will truly miss all of the staff that make the city run so smoothly and can not express my gratitude enough,” he added. “Congratulations to Stephanie LeMay and all of the incoming council members.”
Gervais concluded his statement by thanking every candidate that put their names forward in the interest of serving the community of Pembroke.
The new term of council will begin on November 15th.
