North Algona Wilberforce’s next mayor has been chosen.
According to unofficial results shared by the township, candidate Harold Weckworth secured the role receiving 887 votes compared to Maria Robinson’s 687.
Weckworth will replace current mayor James Brose, who did not run for re-election.
Weckworth says this isn’t his first time in this position.
Weckworth said his top priority would be working to try and extend water sewer lines west out of Eganville near the Beer Store.
He also thanked the volunteers that helped put up flyers for him for helping him succeed in the election.
Incumbent council candidates Douglas Buckwalkd and Janet Reiche-Schoenfeldt will join Weckworth on council alongside a pair of newcomers, Kevin Clarke and Paul Hamilton.
Of those four, Reiche-Schoenfeldt secured the most votes with 1,198 residents casting their ballot in her favor, followed by Buckwald with 848 votes, Clarke with 691 and Hamilton with 557.
