A 52-year-old man is facing several charges after an early morning stop in the Town of Petawawa.
Upper Ottawa Valley OPP says they initiated the stop on Oct. 18 around 1:45 a.m. on Laurentian Drive, but when they questioned the driver, he failed to provide a proper name.
They say that was just the tip of the iceberg.
“A false name was provided to police, and several other violations were discovered by officers,” police say. “As part of the investigation a Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) was conducted, and further testing was conducted by a Drug Recognition Expert.”
Police say Bart MacIntosh of Petawawa has been charged with operation while impaired (drugs), operation while prohibited, obstruct peace officer, failure to comply with undertaking, driving while suspension, and fail to signal for turn.
Police suspended MacIntosh’s licence for 90 days and towed the vehicle for a week.
MacIntosh was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on November 10.
