Ontario Provincial Police are asking for the public’s help identifying two suspects after a cyclist was robbed at knifepoint in Pembroke.
The Upper Ottawa Valley OPP says officers responded to the incident at about 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 16, near Boundary Road and Forced Road.
Police say the victim was cycling when two males approached and stopped them, demanding their bicycle. One of the suspects brandished a knife, and the victim handed over the bicycle.
The two suspects were last seen travelling south on Jean Avenue.
Police describe the first person of interest as a Black male, approximately 18 years old, about five-foot-eight with a thin build, glasses and large afro-style hair. He was wearing a grey sweatshirt, blue skinny jeans and white Nike shoes, and spoke with an accent. Police say he was armed with a knife.
The second person of interest is described as a white male, about six feet tall, with a moustache and thin beard. He was wearing a red coat, black sweatpants and white Nike shoes, and was riding a red BMX bicycle.
The victim’s abandoned bicycle was recovered later that afternoon near the Algonquin Trail, around Douglas Street and Boundary Road West.
Investigators are asking anyone with information, including home or business security video or dashcam footage that may be relevant, to contact the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP at 613-732-3332.
