A recent wave of fraudulent tournament invitations has the governing body for minor hockey in Ottawa and the Valley on alert.
Hockey Eastern Ontario says they are aware of a number of scam emails and communications that have been circulated to minor hockey teams and associations.
In some cases, the names, logos, branding, or contact information of recognized organizations and hosts are being used to make the fake invites appear authentic.
Associations, team staff, and participants are being urged to use caution when receiving tournament invitations and contact either HEO or the host directly to confirm before proceeding with registration and payment.
If your team receives a suspicious invitation, notify the HEO immediately and don’t engage the sender until it can be verified.
