Small Business Week celebrates the heart and soul of the Upper Ottawa Valley, and the Upper Ottawa Valley Chamber of Commerce (UPVCC) says they’re thrilled to shine a spotlight and champion the spirit that drives our region forward.
This week we honour achievements and share stories that inspire the next generation of leaders in our community.
Upper Ottawa Valley Chamber of Commerce president Cyndi Mills says entrepreneurs who build a small business have put in a significant amount of time to bring their product – or service – to the community and it’s important to acknowledge that contribution.
“it’s important we recognize the commitment they have (small business owners) to our community,” she says. “It’s a lot to run a business, and when you go from concept to idea to brick and mortar it’s gratifying to the owner but also important to people using their resources.”
To recognize Small Business Week, the Chamber will be hosting an event where members – and guests – can build connections, and Mills says they’re teaming up with other local venues to make a bigger impact for Small Business Week.
“We’re teaming up with Algonquin College as they host a leadership seminar, and we’re hosting an event for our members to come in and network with other businesses,” she says.
Small Business Week is organized by the Business Development Bank of Canada, and celebrated during the third week of October, providing resources and opportunities to help encourage growth and success.
