An award-winning production of Million-Dollar Quartet will be coming to Pembroke this weekend, highlighting songs from four professional performers.
The story represents one night in 1956 when Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley had a jam session at Sun Record, in Memphis; an event Tweed and Company Theatre artistic and co-executive director Tim Porter says changed history forever.
“It’s the story of one legendary night when they all ended up at Sun Records and recorded an actual album,” Porter says. “The show is somewhat fictionalized but based on true events.”

The production was a Broadway Production in the early 2000s, and according to Porter, it’s open for licensing, he says the theatre picked up the production and started performing in Ontario.
“We first did the show in 2024, after rehearsing for two weeks,” he says. “The show has been in Bancroft, Tweed, Whitby and it just became so popular we pitched it to other theatres.”
Tickets average around $50 with the proceeds going to Tweed and Company –that is a registered charity– and Porter says it’s important to provide theatre that’s affordable and accessible unites a community together.
“In a lot of communities, theatre is not accessible for the average Joe,” he says. “It’s really important to us that every member of our community isn’t denied the right to experience live theatre, but also the shared communal experience.”
The production has won several Broadway World Ottawa Awards including; Best Musical, Best Performance in a Musical and Best Direction.
The production will be held at Festival Hall from Sept. 25 to 27.
