The Pontiac Agricultural Society is just days away from celebrating 170 years of the “Valley’s Most Family Friendly Fair.”
General Manager Mavis Hanna is encouraging guests at the Shawville Fair to explore every corner of the local fairgrounds and discover everything on offer over the Labour Day long weekend, including five days of fun and games at the midway, the Pontiac Firemen’s Challenge, classic cars and bikes, a truck and tractor pull, a visit from Garrison Petawawa, an afternoon honouring the village’s Irish heritage on Sunday, and more.
There will also be a stacked lineup of live performances and entertainment, headlined by some notable names and the return of a fan favourite event.
Agriculture will be front and centre throughout the weekend, too. Alongside their traditional 4H Club showcases and markets for horses, beef, goats, and lambs, local farmers will offer visitors plenty of chances to learn about friendly farm animals of all sizes.
Also new to commemorate the 170th anniversary of the Shawville Fair is a newly painted mural that takes people through the site’s storied history.
Hanna says guests can get all of that and more without worrying about breaking the bank, as everything is included with your ticket, whether you opt for a weekend pass or just want the chance to drop by for a day.
