The Ottawa Valley’s young ringette players will head into the season with new threads and new opportunities thanks to a recent windfall.
UOV Ringette Association Director Tyson Andress is thrilled to have received a grant worth $14,700 through the Ontario Trillium Foundation, which he says will be a massive help as they replace aging jerseys, ringette rings, and shared goalie equipment for the association’s youngest divisions.
Each upgrade is a small improvement, but they all add up to improve the experience and keep it affordable for families.
Andress also credits treasurer Jane Fuller for getting the league on track for funding with the foundation, pointing to it as an example of the great group of involved parents that make up their board of directors.
In a statement, Fuller says the association is incredibly grateful that the foundation recognizes the impact ringette has in the community, giving kids a place to belong, lead, and grow together.
That team is part of an incredibly welcoming broader community of ringette families within the Valley that have made Andress welcome since his oldest daughter joined the league four years ago, an experience that he believes is worth sharing.
Interested families can experience the sport first-hand with a Come Try Day for kids aged 4 to 12 at Renfrew’s myFM Centre this coming Sunday, August 23.
