A community cycling fundraiser in support of Pembroke Regional Hospital is set to hit the Algonquin Trail later this month.
Pedal for PRH is taking place Sunday, Aug. 23, inviting cyclists of all ages and abilities to take part in one of three traffic-free routes through the Ottawa Valley.
Participants can choose an 86-kilometre ride from Arnprior to Pembroke, a 63-kilometre route from Pembroke to Cobden and back, or a 30-kilometre ride from Pembroke to Petawawa and back.
The fundraiser has raised $3,232 so far toward its $10,000 goal, with proceeds going to support the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation and local hospital care.
Cyclists can register individually or as part of a team. Registration costs $75 for adults, $20 for youth ages 12 to 17, while children under 12 can participate for free.
Registration includes a barbecue, draw prizes and event swag.
Online registration remains open until 1 p.m. Aug. 21. Participants can also pay and sign a waiver on the morning of the event.
Organizers are encouraging residents to take part in what they describe as an opportunity to enjoy a day on the trail while helping raise funds for health care in the community.
