A Pembroke Regional Hospital employee has won more than $8,500 in the latest weekly draw of the hospital foundation’s Catch the Ace lottery, as the fundraiser continues to build momentum in support of local health care.
Chantal Pettigrew of Pembroke was announced as the Week 7 winner, taking home a prize of $8,582.
The Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation says ticket sales exceeded expectations during the week, pushing the final prize above its initial estimate of $8,000. Foundation officials say it is one of the largest weekly prizes awarded at this stage of any of the organization’s Catch the Ace lotteries.
Executive Director Roger Martin said community support has remained strong seven weeks into the current lottery.
“We’re incredibly grateful for the support we’re seeing from our community and from participants across Ontario,” Martin said in a statement. “Every ticket sold is helping advance the Together, We Care Campaign and fund important equipment and technology needs at Pembroke Regional Hospital.”
According to the foundation, the current Catch the Ace lottery has generated significantly stronger early participation than previous rounds, with weekly prizes now more than two-and-a-half times larger than they were at the same point in earlier lotteries.
Proceeds from the fundraiser support the Together, We Care Campaign, which helps purchase priority medical equipment and technology for Pembroke Regional Hospital.
The foundation says the campaign has already met its fundraising goals for three acute mental health security beds and a new lighting system for the hospital’s labour and delivery department. It is now raising approximately $170,000 to purchase 11 new stretchers for use throughout the hospital.
The weekly Catch the Ace lottery continues, with tickets available through the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation.
