Whitewater Region wants to gather its communities to mark 25 years together later this month.
The township’s communication and economic development coordinator, Rebecca Gill, says their upcoming 25th anniversary community day will be an opportunity to meet with residents and celebrate the unique histories of their former municipalities of Beachburg, Cobden, Westmeath, and Ross, which merged back in 2001.
Along with family-friendly fun and activities like a free BBQ, a mega-sized touch-a-truck event which Gill says may include a Chinook helicopter, live music, games, face-painting, and more, the day will also feature a full expo with local volunteer groups where guests can learn more about the people who keep the region an active, thriving hub of activity and events.
Residents will also get to cast their ballots in the township’s Name That Plow contest, which Gill says has already received fantastic submissions from the community as the township’s plow team narrows selections down to a shortlist of favourites that will go up for public voting at the event.
Whitewater Region’s Community Day will run at the Beachburg Fairgrounds from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 15.
